The Commandant of Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Maj.-Gen. Jamil Sarham, has disclosed that 140 NDA cadets would ‘interact and learn’ from Operation Lafiya Dole Commanders on the ongoing counter-insurgency operations in Northeast.

The operations in the region are being executed by troops in Sambisa Forest and Lake Chad Basin areas, comprising Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states.

Sarham disclosed this at the weekend in Maiduguri, while presenting visiting cadets to the Theatre Commander, Maj.-Gen. Olusegun Adeniyi at Maimalari Cantonment.

He said: “The cadets are in Maiduguri to familiarise themselves with the goings-on at the theatre of war. They are to learn from commanders’ practical experiences in front lines of forest and Lake Chad Region. They would gain knowledge from officers, who have first-hand experiences at theatre of war. It is appropriate to bring the cadets to the theatre and expose them to the operations…”

He, therefore, commended the courage and commitment of officers and men of the Theatre Command, stressing that they were happy with how counter-insurgency operations were going on.

He assured that the fight against Boko Haram insurgents would end in restoring peace in affected states of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe.
