The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has expressed worries over youths’ involvement in drug trafficking and warned that Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, was a wrong route for illicit trafficking.

The agency said it would ensure a drug-free society.

NDLEA’s Commander of Narcotics, Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Rosana Nnodim, stated this in Enugu, in reaction to the recently held International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

She said until the closure of the international wing of the airport in 2019, the agency made drug seizures worth 346.267 kilogrammes.

Nnodim said NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd.) was poised to reposition the agency, especially, with the launch of War Against Drug Abuse (WADA).

She said WADA was part of the commitment to address drug problems holistically.
