The Niger Delta Youth Congress (NDYC) has warned against the politicisation of governance in Zamfara State.
The caution comes in the wake of a recent protest by the All Progressives Congress Young Leaders Alliance (APC-YLA) at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) headquarters in Abuja.
The protest, which targeted Minister Bello Matawalle, was described seen as a politically motivated move.
In a statement signed by Comrade Israel Uwejeyan, National Coordinator, NDYC expressed concern that such actions could further polarise the state and undermine efforts towards good governance.
“We urge all stakeholders in Zamfara State to desist from politicising governance and instead focus on issues that promote the welfare and development of the state,” said Comrade Israel Uwejeyan, National Coordinator of NDYC.
The NDYC noted that Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration should prioritise addressing the socio-economic challenges facing the people of Zamfara
They emphasised the need for responsible leadership and constructive dialogue to drive progress in the state.
The group also condemned the APC-YLA’s actions, describing them as a facade with no credible representation of Zamfara youth interests.
The NDYC called on the APC leadership to disassociate itself from the APC-YLA, citing concerns about the group’s authenticity and potential political sponsorship.
In a statement, the NDYC reaffirmed its commitment to promoting transparent governance and the rule of law in Nigeria.
The group urged Nigerians to remain vigilant against politically motivated plots that could sow discord and undermine national unity.
