North East Development Commission (NEDC) has solicited support from the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) to deliver 530 projects embedded in the North East recovery master plan.

North East Development Commission (NEDC) has solicited support from the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) to deliver 530 projects embedded in the North East recovery master plan.

The Managing Director, Mohammed Alkali, who made this appeal, yesterday, in Abuja while playing host to NSE leadership, said the commission was in dire need of support to help build back the region that was ravaged by over a decade of terrorism.

Noting that the task of rebuilding the region is enormous, Alkali stressed the need for the two bodies to dust up the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) they signed 11 years ago for action to commence.

Responding, NSE President, Tasiu Gidari-Wudil, who noted that the NSE had watched with keen interest efforts of the commission in attainment of its mandate, rehabilitation and reconstruction of the North East region, expressed the engineers’ eagerness to stand with the commission to ensure its success on its mandate.

Gidari-Wudil added: “You may wish to be informed that apart from our MoU with NEDC, the NSE North East Rehabilitation and Development Committee has successfully worked with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and presently working on an MoU with the NNPC-Gas and Power Investment Company (NNPC-GPIC), Chad Basin Development Authority, among others.

“More so, the committee has been working with your commission in the spirit of the MoU and we trust that we will work harmoniously together with you towards full implementation of the MOU.”
