Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project, (NEWMAP) has reiterated its intention to complete all the erosion sites it’s currently handling in the state soon.

NEWMAP, with funding from the World Bank, is intervening at five gully erosion sites in Atakpa, Ikot Awantim, Nyagasang, Edim Otop and Ikot Ekpo, all located in the Calabar metropolis, and which runs into over N4b.

The State Project Coordinator, NEWMAP, Cross River State Project Management Unit, Mr. Fidelis Anukwa, who gave the assurance at the weekend in Calabar during a stakeholders/Project Staff orientation workshop, said it will move into other parts of the state immediately, as the agency was not crafted to attend to all erosion matters, but rather to show best practice to other agencies.
