The Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Air Force, Senator Osita Ngwu, has commended the Nigerian Air Force for its intensified efforts in combating terrorism, pledging continued legislative support to strengthen the nation’s security framework.
In a statement issued by his office, the lawmaker praised the Nigerian Air Force under the leadership of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, for what he described as renewed vigour and a strategic approach in counter-terrorism operations across the country.
Ngwu noted that the Air Chief’s commitment to deploying modern technology, intelligence-driven air operations, and enhanced training programmes has significantly improved the effectiveness of ongoing military campaigns.
According to him, the adoption of precision air strikes and improved intelligence coordination has continued to produce positive outcomes in dismantling terrorist networks and restoring stability in affected areas.
The senator also acknowledged the role of the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, commending his sustained support for the Armed Forces.
While recognising that the provision of critical resources has strengthened the military’s operational capacity, Ngwu stressed the need for increased funding, noting that counter-insurgency efforts are capital-intensive and require consistent financial backing to achieve lasting success.
He pledged the continued support of the National Assembly through its Air Force and other relevant security committees, emphasising that the legislature would maintain collaboration with the Armed Forces through timely approvals, oversight, and policy initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency.
“The National Assembly remains resolute in its duty to support our gallant men and women in uniform. We will continue to provide the legislative backing required to ensure that the fight against terrorism is sustained and ultimately won,” he said.
Ngwu also urged Nigerians to support the military and other security agencies through cooperation, vigilance, and the provision of credible information to relevant authorities.
