Barrister Aloy Ejimakor has outlined the three fundamental shifts Nigeria needs to remain a united country.

In a statement on Monday, Ejimakor listed Constitutional Reform as one of the items, saying if implemented, it will lead to genuine federalism and regional autonomy.

The lawyer also highlighted Institutional Fairness, which will guarantee equal representation, security, and equitable resource allocation.

Lastly, he highlighted Attitudinal Change, which he believes will dismantle systemic bias and foster active political inclusion.

Ejimakor earlier lamented that for decades, the Igbo ethnic group have built, invested in, and sustained economic growth across every corner of Nigeria, yet systemic injustice remains a persistent reality that stares them in the face.

“True national unity cannot survive on unequal and unjust foundations. If Nigeria is to remain united, it must urgently commit to three fundamental shifts,” he said.

Ejimakor pointed out that without these immediate structural changes, unity becomes a posture that demands sacrifice without fairness.

“So, should the institutional unfairness arrayed against Ndigbo persist unabated, Ndigbo would have no other choice than to unite into a singular voice to demand self-determination as the next best alternative.

“To be sure, self-determination is a logical, lawful and self-preserving response to enduring inequity against a people that formed one of the tripod that birthed Nigeria,” he said.

He concluded by stating that regarding the Igbo people, Nigeria must repair its social contract today, or succumb to their right to chart their own future.
