Al-Makura directs payment of full salaries to council workers
Governor Umaru Almakura of Nasarawa State has directed that local council workers be paid their full salaries before Christmas.
Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Haruna Osegba, announced this yesterday during its last Local Government Joint Account meeting in Lafia.
The commissioner, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Bala Sani, said the directive was to ensure that workers meet up their obligation to family members.He said the government would continue to prioritise workers salaries and welfare, because they are the drivers of the economy.
The commissioner disclosed that government would continue to pay full salaries as at when due, even if there is shortfall, or delay in allocations.Executive Chairman Nasarawa State Primary Healthcare and Development Agency, Mohammed Addis, threatened to sanction directors of health of various local councils for poor conduct in filling vacancies in the various areas.He said the governor had given approval for the replacement of health workers who have died, retired, resigned, or transferred their service.
