The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 13, Dahiru Mahammud, has deployed personnel and security assets to protect residents and places of worship during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration in Borno and Yobe states.

Mahammud said the deployment was aimed at ensuring watertight security across the two North-East states throughout the festive period.

In a statement issued by the spokesperson for the Yobe State Police Command, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, residents were urged to remain law-abiding and security conscious and to promptly report suspicious movements, activities, incidents, or unusual situations to the nearest police formation or other security agencies.

“The AIG for Zone 13 headquarters in Maiduguri has extended warm felicitations to Muslim faithful in Nigeria, particularly those in Borno and Yobe states, on the occasion of the 2026 Eid-el-Adha celebration.

“To ensure a peaceful, safe, and hitch-free celebration, the AIG has directed the Commissioners of Police in Borno and Yobe state police commands to deploy adequate personnel and other critical operational assets across the zone,” the statement read.

Abdulkarim added that the AIG emphasised the need for both kinetic and non-kinetic assets to be strategically deployed to guarantee the safety of lives and property before, during, and after the Eid festivities.

Mahammud also encouraged Muslim faithful to use the occasion to promote peace, unity, love, tolerance, and lawful conduct in society.

He reassured residents of Borno and Yobe states of adequate security during and beyond the celebration period and wished Muslim faithful a peaceful and memorable Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
