Armed bandits have kidnapped the wife and daughter of the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Patigi Local Council, Kwara State.
The victims, Hajia Fatima and her daughter Amina, were taken late Sunday night from the Sakpefu community residence of Alhaji Muhammad Swasun.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers stormed the area at about 11:00 p.m., shooting sporadically to scare off intruders before breaking into the chairman’s home. They then whisked away the two family members.
Local vigilantes reportedly mobilised after the incident but arrived too late to prevent the abduction. Their search for the victims is ongoing.
The attack comes just days after bandits struck Esanti and Lalagi villages in the same Patigi axis, killing a driver and abducting another resident.
In a separate incident on Saturday, gunmen invaded the Shagbe community in Ifelodun Local Council, attacked the palace of the monarch, killed some residents and abducted others. Residents reported that the attackers remained on the scene for hours despite repeated calls for assistance to security agencies.
The Kwara State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement on the incidents.
