Bauchi Police nab man for alleged abduction, recover stolen bike

The Bauchi State Police command, has arrested a 30-year-old man for an alledged abduction attempt and recovery of stolen motorcycle and mobile phone in Kirfi Local Government Area of the state.

The command said the suspect identified as Abdulmumini Sarki was arrested on Friday at about 9 a.m.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, announced the arrest and recovery in a statement issued on Sunday, August 9 2026.

He said Abdulmumini was arrested  following credible intelligence received by operatives of Kirfi Divisional Police Headquarters.

Habib added that Sarki, a resident of Ziriyalo Hamlet near Tubule village, had reportedly been declared wanted over an alleged criminal conspiracy and kidnapping in the council area.

Police operatives said officers recovered a motorcycle and an Itel keypad phone containing GLO and MTN SIM cards during the operation.

The motorcycle was identified with registration number GME 224WW, while police also recorded its engine and chassis numbers as exhibits for prosecution in court.

The suspect remains in custody, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Bauchi for further investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.

The command also urged residents to provide credible and timely information that could assist security agencies in preventing  criminal activities in the state.
