The ASHH Foundation Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) Case Management Committee says 32 individuals have been convicted by the courts since 2020 in the 669 cases it has managed so far.
The Executive Director of ASHH Foundation, Comfort Attah, disclosed this during the inaugural meeting of the committee under its Renewed Women’s Voice and Leadership Project.
Attah said the foundation formed the leadership project, which she disclosed is funded by Global Affairs Canada and supported by ActionAid Nigeria, to prevent and manage gender-based violence cases.
According to her, during the period, “ASHH Foundation and this committee managed 526 SGBV cases, enrolled 74 survivors in therapy, and successfully won 32 cases in court and through mediation. These numbers represent lives restored and justice served.
“Even after the project ended in 2024, we did not stop, but between August 2024 and February 2026, ASHH Foundation continued to support survivors and managed an additional 143 cases. That brings our total to 669 cases handled since the inception of this committee.”
According to her, the foundation’s goal is to strengthen the committee, expand membership to include new representatives, and improve coordination, referrals and survivor support across Bauchi State.
