A socio-cultural platform, Benin Consultative Forum (BCF) envisioned to unite, inspire, and empower Benin indigenes was unveiled at the weekend.

Speaking at the formal unveiling ceremony, the President of BCF and former Inspector-General of Police Dr. Solomon Arase, said, “Today is a defining moment for the Benin people. The BCF is more than an organization. It is a movement, a rallying cry for unity, empowerment, and collective progress.

“Our mission is simple but profound, to provide a platform for the expression of our shared identity, to empower the Benin people, and to promote our social, political, economic, and cultural causes.

“Our membership includes Benins at home and abroad, and for whom integrity, excellence, amity, and justice are irreducible values.”

Emphasising that the BCF is non-partisan, the former Inspector-General of Police however noted that its members are conscious of the fact that there are a number of other associations whose objectives are either completely or partially in alignment in with the goals and aspirations of BCF.

According to the Ex- police scribe, “We shall, therefore, reach out to our brothers and sisters across multiple platforms in order to synergize and actualize the greater Benin interest.”

Arase, who empahsied the core values of the BCF, said it includes but no limited to the celebration and preservation of the rich cultural heritage of the Benin people, inspiring and grooming future leaders who will champion worthy causes and fostering unity among Benins home and abroad.

Arase added that BCF is to see a united Benin people, thriving in every sphere of life and contributing meaningfully to society and stressed that, “Together, we are stronger, and together, we will build a future worthy of our ancestors’ legacy. ”

The occasion was also used to honour two BCF members- Professor Edoba Omoregie and Rt Hon Dr. Samson Osagie who were recently appointed Vice Chancellor, University of Benin (UNIBEN) and Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice, Edo State respectively.

Prior to their appointments, Prof. Edoba Omoregie was the Secretary of the BCF while Barr. Osagie served as the association’s vice president.

Arase charged the honorees to work tirelessly to enhance the ranking of UNIBEN as a premier institution for teaching, learning, and research.

He urged Osagie to live up to the expectations of the people by upholding the principles of promoting equity and progress and the elevation of the rule of law in Edo State.
