Police in Ogun State has filed a six-count against Adetoun Onajobi, popularly known on multiple social media platforms as @justadetoun, for allegedly publishing false information against Governor Dapo Abiodun.
Recalled that on January 2, 2026, the police invited Adetoun Onajobi for an interview to avail her the opportunity to respond to allegations from the state government for allegedly bullying the governor on social media platforms.
But, instead of honouring the invitation, the suspect replied to the police through her counsel in a letter that she was not feeling well and would not be able to appear for questioning.
A medical report allegedly issued by a doctor was attached to the letter, detailing several medical challenges purportedly suffered by the suspect and the efforts made to treat and stabilise her.
Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, on Monday.
Oluseyi said that the police later embarked on a discreet investigation and discovered that the medical report of the social media critic was a ruse and false.
He said that the doctor behind it was later arrested, and he confessed that the medical report was untrue but was written in line with the directive of the suspect, Adetoun Onajobi, through a phone conversation facilitated by her lawyer.
The police PRO said that following the doctor’s confession, he was arraigned before an Ogun State Magistrates’ Court for conspiracy, uttering a false document, and obstructing the course of justice.
However, the police said that the charges against the blogger, now pending before the Abeokuta Division of the Federal High Court, are predicated on the following facts:
Babaseyi said, “Adetoun Onajobi ‘F’ is an internet blogger who, in recent times, has used social media and other internet-enabled computer platforms to publish false accusations against the Ogun State Government and to further bully the Governor of Ogun State, in breach of the Cybercrimes Act.”
“On 2nd January, 2026, the Ogun State Police Command invited Adetoun Onajobi for an interview to afford her the opportunity to respond to allegations arising from her online bullying of the Ogun State Governor.”
“Rather than honour the police invitation, the suspect, through her lawyer, wrote to the Police claiming she was medically indisposed and unable to attend the meeting. Attached to the letter was a medical report allegedly issued by a medical doctor, detailing several medical challenges purportedly suffered by the suspect and the efforts made to treat and stabilise her,” he added.
The Police Spokesperson said that since the doctor had been charged to court, the blogger became elusive and has continued to shun every invitation sent to her by the Police as her whereabouts remain unknown.
He said that the Command has continued to trail other suspects connected to the false information allegedly deployed by Adetoun Onajobi in an attempt to obstruct police investigations.
The Police Image Maker said that police would deploy everything within its power to arrest and produce the suspect before the court to answer charges filed against her due to her refusal to honour police invitations.
He, however, urged members of the public to desist from cyber bullying and false accusations against other people online, saying that free speech has lawful limits and does not grant immunity from criminal conduct.
