Family, friends eulogise Halimah Adetona at 60th birthday

It was a joyous moment, as family, friends and loved ones gathered to celebrate the 60th birthday of Alhaja Halimah Adetona.
The occasion featured prayers and a lecture delivered by the Vice President (West) of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) and Editor, The Guardian Weekend, Dr. Kabir Alabi Garba.
One of the celebrant’s daughters, Arafah Adebisi-Adetona, described her as a good mother, who never abandoned her responsibilities in the family.
She said one of her mother’s most cherished attributes was her love for humanity and supporting people to fulfill their dreams.
Also extolling the celebrant, her husband, Prince Abdulfattah Adetona, who effortlessly eulogised his wife, while creating hilarious jokes. He described her as a committed and devoted housewife, and prayed to God to grant her long life.
While addressing the gathering, Dr. Garba emphasised the need to be grateful to God in all circumstances, noting that expressing gratitude to the Supreme being always usher in more goodness and peace.
He said: “The prophet places emphasis on being grateful and encourages everyone to always be thankful.”
He counselled everyone to prepare for the hereafter by engaging in good deeds, reading the holy book and emulating the ways of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
While quoting one of the Hadiths of the prophet, he said: “The prophet asked us to take advantage of five things: your youth before your old age, your health before your sickness, your wealth before your poverty, your free time before your business, and your life before your death.”
The celebrant attested to God’s favour, saying: “Everything I have achieved in my life, all come from the grace of God.”
He appreciated the guest lecturer for always coming through including moral support, noting that she never took them for granted.
