The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has refuted reports that over 40 hoodlums invaded Efab Global Estate in Idu, injuring five security guards, as police allegedly delayed in responding.
The Command described the claims as misleading and exaggerated, clarifying that a case of armed robbery involving a smaller group of assailants was indeed reported but had been promptly addressed.
According to a statement issued on Friday by SP Josephine Adeh, FCT Police Public Relations Officer, the incident occurred in the early hours of May 21, 2025.
According to the Police, at approximately 4:05 a.m., the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Life Camp Division received a distress call alerting authorities to a robbery in progress at the estate.
“Armed suspects had reportedly gained entry through the estate’s rear perimeter fence.
“During the attack, two private security guards were tied up, and one sustained injuries.
“The injured guard was quickly transported to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) for treatment and is said to be in stable condition.
“The robbers made away with various valuables, including laptops and mobile phones,” the statement read.
It disclosed that Harrison Oruruo, Area Commander for Life Camp, led a tactical response team to the location.
The Police noted that the suspects had fled before the distress call reached the police.
The FCT Command said it has tightened security around the estate in coordination with vigilante groups and community leaders, while launching an investigation to track down the perpetrators.
Ajao S. Adewale, FCT Commissioner of Police, advised estate managers and residents to conduct thorough background checks on private security staff and domestic workers.
He stressed the need for close collaboration between communities and Divisional Police Officers to strengthen local security systems.
Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and to report suspicious activity using the Command’s emergency lines: 08032003913, 08028940883, 07057337653, or the Complaint Response Unit on 08107314192.
The Police reassured the public of their continued commitment to protecting lives and property across the FCT.
