Fire outbreak claims lives of two children in Yobe

Yobe State Police Command has confirmed the death of two children following a fire outbreak in Barbuma-Koriyel Village, Tarmuwa Local Government Area.

Zagazola Makama, a security analyst, disclosed that the incident occurred at about 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 17. Citing sources, Zagazola stated that the fire was reportedly triggered while a woman was cooking at her residence.

The flames quickly spread to nearby wooden structures, engulfing the entire hamlet. Two children, Dauda Mohammed Shuwa, 8, and Fatima Mohammed Shuwa, 6, were trapped and died in the blaze.

Security personnel responded to the scene and evacuated the victims to a nearby hospital, where they were pronounced dead by medical personnel. Autopsies were carried out, after which the bodies were released to the family for burial.
