Flood: Red Cross joins rescue operations in Maiduguri

The Borno branch of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, under the leadership of the Branch Secretary, has taken swift action in response to the devastating floods in Maiduguri.

With a team of more than 200 dedicated volunteers and the full support of all branch staff, they reportedly worked tirelessly to assist those impacted by the disaster in different areas of Maiduguri.

Mr. Benson Agbro, who is the Director of Disaster Management at the Nigerian Red Cross Society, said the casualties were quickly transported to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention.

He added, “Meanwhile, the bodies of those who lost their lives were handled with care, either being taken to their relatives’ homes or transferred to the mortuary, accompanied by grieving family members to ensure proper arrangements were made.”
