The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Command in Ogun State has arrested 321 traffic violators for various road traffic offences across the state.

The offences include vehicle overloading, number plate violations, unlatched containers, and dangerous driving on highways.

FRSC spokesperson, Afolabi Odunsi, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued to journalists, noting that the offenders were apprehended and sanctioned during intensive enforcement operations carried out under the recently launched “Operation Guduma”.

He stated that the operation, conducted in strict compliance with directives from the FRSC National Headquarters in Abuja, was supervised by Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM) J.O. Asaolu and coordinated by the Ogun State Sector Commander, RS2.2, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi.

Speaking on the exercise, Ogunjobi commended the commitment and professionalism displayed by personnel involved in the special intervention patrol.

He disclosed that 185 overloaded vehicles were apprehended during the operation, while no fake diplomatic number plates were recorded. He added that offenders involved in dangerous driving were also booked.

According to him, three mixed-loading offences were recorded, while 127 motorists were arrested for number plate violations. He added that four unlatched container violations were detected and sanctioned.

Ogunjobi stressed that despite the conclusion of the special operation, the command would sustain enforcement and monitoring of the targeted offences across Ogun State, reaffirming its commitment to protecting lives and property on the highways.

He noted that the use of fake number plates poses a serious security risk to residents and motorists, adding that the command remains committed to intensifying efforts to detect and prosecute offenders.

He urged motorists, fleet operators, transport unions, and members of the public to comply with all traffic regulations and safety standards to reduce crashes and ensure safer roads for all.

Ogunjobi reaffirmed the command’s commitment to professionalism, fairness, and proactive road safety management in line with the statutory responsibilities of the corps.
