FRSC Confirms two dead in Ogun Auto Crash

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Sector Command, has confirmed a fatal road crash that claimed the lives of two persons at Leme along the Abeokuta–Ibadan Expressway.

The crash involved a black Lexus car with registration number : KJA 398 JR and a black TVS motorcycle with registration number AYT 837 QU.

Spokesperson of the FRSC, Ogun State Command, SRC Afolabi Odunsi who confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta yesterday, said no injury was recorded in the crash.

Odunsi said that six adult males were involved in the crash that occurred on Monday at about 5:45 p.m which resulted to the death of the two persons.

He said that operatives of the FRSC were quick to respond to the incident from rescue mission and arrived the scene in five minutes (5:55p.m) after receiving the distress call at about 5:50 p.m.

The superintendent route commander said that the crash was caused by speed violation (SPV), underscoring the persistent danger of excessive speed on Nigerian roads.

He said that FRSC personnel had evacuated the victims and deposited the deceased at the State Hospital, Ijaye Mortuary.

Odunsi mentioned recovered personal belongings of the victims including : an identity card and a Tecno mobile phone.

He added that the road had been cleared of obstruction to restore the free flow of traffic.

The Sector Commander, CC Oludare Ogunjobi, commiserated with the families of the deceased and urged motorists, especially drivers and motorcyclists, to strictly obey speed limits, remain vigilant, and avoid dangerous driving behaviours.

Ogunjobi emphasized that speeding significantly reduces reaction time and increases the severity of crashes, noting that the Command is committed to ensuring safer roads through sustained enforcement, public enlightenment, and prompt rescue services.
