An 82-year-old man identified as Demi Duda, and a 19-year-old identified as Emmanuel Chinge, have been reported killed by in separate attacks on communities in Irigwe Chiefdom of Bassa Local Council of Plateau State.
In a statement, the National Publicity Secretary of Irigwe Youth Movement (IYM), Joseph Yonkpa, said Chinge was killed on Sunday at Nche-tahu in Nkien-whie District of Irigwe, while Duda was killed and another resident injured in a separate incident in early on Monday in Kurudu, Jebbu Miango.
The group expressed concern at what it described as the deteriorating security situation in Irigwe land, alleging that repeated attacks were threatening lives and destroying farms, resulting in economic hardship. The movement called for support for the communities affected by insecurity.
