Isoko-North Council boss bans activities of scavengers

The chairman of Isoko-North Local Council of Delta State, Hon. Prince Godwin Ogorugba has banned the activities of scavengers popularly know as “Iron condemn” within the Local Council.

Ogorugba disclosed this during elaborate security meeting with traditional rulers, president generals and all heads of security agencies.

The council boss emphasised that scavengers have become serious concern owing to their involvement in criminal acts such as kidnapping, armed robbery, sales of illicit drugs and vandalism.

He noted that scavengers’ activities pose a significant threat to the lives and property of Isoko North people, prompting the council to resolved to order them out of the Council within 20 days.

The chairman, therefore, urged residents who rented or leased their land to the scavengers to take necessary action to evict them within the stipulated period of time, as the council will no longer tolerate activities that destroy the community’s business.

Ogorugba also said any landlord or resident who fail to comply with the directives on or before December 22, 2024 , would be forced by security agencies and their property taken over as government property.

He stressed that “they can’t use their business to destroy our own means of livelihoods, properties and endanger our lives.”

The council chairman extends his heartfelt appreciation to all Isoko North residents for their solidarity and support for his administration, promising that he will continue to work for the best interest of of his people to consolidate on the More Agenda of governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
