Julicare Foundation urges support for special needs children

Children with special needs

The Founder of Julicare Foundation, Prince Julius Ojo, has called on Nigerians, corporate organisations and international donors to increase support for children living with special needs across the country.

Ojo made the appeal during a Father’s Day outreach visit to Modupe Cole Memorial Child Care and Treatment Home/School in Lagos recently, where the Canada-based charitable organisation donated food items and other essential supplies to support the institution’s children and staff. To demonstrate its commitment to the cause, the foundation also announced that it would pay the salary of a nurse providing medical care at the school.

Ojo stressed the need for collective action to improve the welfare of vulnerable children, noting that many special-needs institutions continue to face challenges in providing adequate care, healthcare services and educational support. .

“As we celebrate Father’s Day, we are reminded of our responsibility to care for the most vulnerable members of our society,” he said, urging individuals and organisations to support such children through donations, partnerships and acts of kindness.

According to Ojo, access to quality healthcare is essential for the wellbeing and dignity of every child, regardless of their condition or background.

The Head Teacher of the school, Mrs. A. I. Oyeniran, expressed appreciation to the foundation for its generosity and continued concern for the welfare of the children.

She emphasised that children with special needs deserve love, acceptance and equal opportunities, while urging parents and guardians to work together in supporting affected children rather than assigning blame for their conditions.

Oyeniran also commended the Lagos State Government, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the First Lady for their sustained support for the institution.
