A 54-year-old Nigerian woman, Alake Latoyosi, has given birth to 11 babies in Cotonou, Benin Republic, in two batches.

The first set of six babies was delivered on August 7, followed by the second set of five on August 14.

Her husband, 56-year-old Yahaya Nafiu, a Missioner of the Ilorin Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) in Port Novo, Ajasse, and Cotonou, is pleading for financial support to care for his family.

He appealed to kind-hearted individuals to assist with funds to support the mother and the surviving babies.

The babies, delivered by a birth attendant, consisted of eight boys and three girls, with two of the girls passing away during delivery.

The remaining nine are reported to be in good health.

Nafiu expressed his struggles with the overwhelming financial burden of caring for his large family.

Nafiu revealed that his wife’s pregnancy lasted over three years due to complications, and a Caesarean section could not be performed.

He attributed the unusual pregnancy duration to spiritual influences, affecting the doctors’ ability to assess the pregnancy.

He also noted that he and his wife both had children from previous marriages before the arrival of the decuplets.
