The Northern Senators Forum (NSF) strongly condemns the tragic killing of innocent travellers who were attacked in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State on Friday, June 20, 2025.

The victims, travelling in an 18-seater bus from Basawa community in Zaria, Kaduna State, to Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State, were ambushed and murdered in cold blood.

Chairman of the Forum, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, in a statement on Monday, said the heinous act is a direct attack on the sanctity of human life and the right of every Nigerian to live and move freely within the country.

“On behalf of the forum, I express our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, the people of Kaduna State, and all Nigerians affected by this tragedy. We mourn with them and stand united in grief and outrage.

“The NSF considers this act not only criminal and cowardly but also a dangerous threat to peace and national cohesion. We reiterate that such atrocities must not be allowed to go unpunished,” he said.

The chairman called for urgent and concrete actions, adding that the Nigeria Police Force must intensify intelligence gathering and proactive security operations in volatile areas.

“Security agencies must be adequately equipped with modern surveillance and communication tools to track and dismantle terror networks.

“Communities are urged to remain calm and avoid reprisals that could worsen tensions,” he said.

He urged the Plateau State Government to strengthen efforts toward dialogue and peaceful coexistence among all groups in the state.

“This is a time for unity, not division. We must work together to ensure that such senseless killings do not become a recurring nightmare.

“The Northern Senators Forum stands in solidarity with the families of the victims,” he said.
Yar’Adua pledged the forum’s commitment to pursuing justice, strengthening national security, and restoring peace in all troubled regions.

In conclusion, he prayed for the souls of the departed to find peace, and that Almighty Allah grant them Aljannah Firdaus.
