Operatives of the Anti-Robbery Team, Ogun State Police Command have arrested two suspects for their alleged involvement in series of armed robbery operations, carjacking, and unlawful possession of firearms.
The suspects are: Adeyinka Onakomaya 46, and Olayiwola Kehinde, 48.
The were arrested following the command’s Anti-robbery team operatives who tracked down the two suspects to their hideouts at Babaode area along Idiroko Road, Ota, Ogun State.
Spokesperson of the Command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta yesterday.
Babaseyi said that the suspects were tracked down following their involvement in an armed robbery incident reported in April 2026 in which a red Toyota vehicle was recovered.
According to him, preliminary investigation revealed that the two suspects and their gang masterminded the April robbery incident and participated in a series of armed robbery operations and violent vehicle snatchings across Ota, Iju, Babaode, and Atan areas of Ogun State.
He said that upon their arrest, a thorough search led in their hideout led to the recovery of three locally made pistols and 18 live cartridges.
Babaseyi noted that during the interrogation, both suspects confessed to their involvement in various armed robbery crimes within the region and are currently cooperating with detectives by providing useful information to aid the ongoing investigation.
He said that efforts are being intensified to track down, identify, and arrest other fleeing members of the criminal syndicate for possible prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives of the Anti-Robbery Team for their tenacity, operational efficiency, and commitment to follow-up investigations.
Ojajuni noted that the recovery of the firearms and the arrest of key syndicate members underscore the Command’s determination not to leave any criminal investigation incomplete.
He reassured residents of the state that the Command remains firm in its resolve to dismantle armed robbery networks and ensure that the State remains unsafe for criminal elements.
The CP also urged them to remain vigilant and continuously support the Police by reporting suspicious movements, persons, or activities within their communities.
