The suspects, Mohammed Usman, 48, popularly known as “Mandela,” and Abiodun Ogunojukan, 38, were arrested on May 10, 2026. Their arrest followed sustained intelligence-led investigations into reported cases of armed robbery and vehicle snatching within the affected divisional areas.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed in a statement that operatives of the Ifo and Sango divisions, led by the Divisional Police Officers, CSP Kamorudeen Olabisi (Ifo) and CSP Idowu G. Items recovered from the suspects included three stolen vehicles, two live cartridges, foreign currencies, one So-Safe Corps uniform, one MP3 sound system, and one plasma television set.
The police spokesperson said all exhibits had been properly documented and secured, while the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCIID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.
