Police arrest four cultists, recovers locally made pistol in Ogun

Police in Ogun have arrested four suspected cultists for alleged assault, armed robbery, unlawful possession of a firearm and stealing of iPhone 14 Pro Max in Ilaro.

The suspects are: Samson John,25, Olufowora Michael,28, Odeh Samuel Ejeh, 25, and Olajide Jeremiah,28.

They were arrested following a report lodge at the police station at about 11:30pm on April 16, 2026.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta yesterday.

Babaseyi said that according the complainant stated that earlier on the same day at about 1:pm, Samson John came in the company of six other individuals, and stormed his residence, assaulting and threatening him with an axe, and robbed him of his mobile phone, an iPhone 14 Pro Max.

He said “Upon swift response and subsequent investigation by the operatives, the suspects were apprehended. During the operation, one locally made pistol, an axe, suspected charms, and the stolen iPhone 14 Pro Max were recovered from them.”

“The suspects are currently in police custody, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing members of the gang. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution.” he added

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their prompt response and professionalism.

The CP reiterated the Command’s zero tolerance for cultism and other violent crimes, assuring residents that all criminal elements will be decisively dealt with.
