A tragic incident occurred in Oyo State when a man allegedly killed his elder brother following a dispute linked to a dream.
The incident happened at Alegunlode Compound in Sepeteri, in the Oke-Ogun axis of the state.
Lateef Suleiman, 43, reportedly attacked his 52-year-old brother, Mustapha Amidu, after claiming that the deceased had shot him in a dream the previous night.
Acting on the allegation, Suleiman allegedly approached Amidu while he was seated, picked up a heavy rock and struck him on the head, leaving him critically injured before fleeing the scene.
The victim was rushed to Ileri Oluwa Hospital in Sepeteri, where a medical doctor confirmed him dead.
The police confirmed that Suleiman has been arrested and allegedly confessed to the crime, stating that the dream prompted his violent action.
He is currently cooperating with investigators as the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
The spokesperson for the Oyo State Police Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, said a team of operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer of Ago-Amodu Division visited both the crime scene and the hospital as part of preliminary investigations.
He added that the command is leaving no stone unturned to ensure justice is served.
The Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna, expressed shock at the nature of the incident, describing it as unusual and tragic.
Haruna assured the public that the case would be handled in accordance with the law and urged residents to remain calm as investigations continue.
