Police rescue abducted Egyptian national in Ibadan

The Oyo State Police Command has rescued an Egyptian national who was abducted in the Alomaja area of Idi-Ayunre, Ibadan, on Monday, September 9, 2025.

The victim was freed less than 24 hours after the incident without any ransom being paid. According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Osifeso Adewale, the swift operation was carried out on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna.

“It involved officers from the 4 PMF Ibadan, intelligence and tactical units of the command, local vigilantes, and the Ogun State Police Command.

“Through coordinated intelligence gathering and extensive search efforts across the forests and border communities between Oyo and Ogun states, the joint security team successfully secured the release of the victim unharmed.

“The rescued individual is currently receiving medical attention at the Police Hospital, Eleyele, Ibadan, before being reunited with family,” he added.

The command commended the professionalism and commitment of the officers involved and reiterated its resolve to safeguard lives and property in Oyo State.

Residents were also urged to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the police.
