The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has strengthened Lagos’ security architecture by providing essential operational gear and kits to two frontline agencies in the state: the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Lagos and the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA).

The intervention reflects a commitment to protecting lives and property by equipping officers responsible for rapid-response policing and community-based security across the state.

At separate handover ceremonies, LSSTF presented 80 anti-riot kits to RRS Lagos and 100 anti-riot kits, along with 1,000 pairs of operational boots, to LNSA. The items were presented on behalf of the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ayodele Ogunsan, by the Director of Administration, Adegbola Lewis.

RRS Lagos is an elite unit of the Nigeria Police Force and plays a crucial role in rapid response, crime deterrence and high-visibility patrols in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial hub.

LNSA operates at the grassroots level, supporting intelligence gathering, neighborhood patrols and early threat detection, thereby bridging the gap between residents and formal law enforcement.

The RRS kits were received by the Deputy Commander, SP Ayo Oyebade, on behalf of the Commander, CSP Shola Jejeloye, at the RRS headquarters in Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja. The LNSA equipment was received by its General Manager, Prince Dr Ifalade Oyekan, at the agency’s headquarters in Oshodi.

In his remarks, Oyekan expressed appreciation to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his commitment to the THEMES+ Agenda, particularly in advancing security and public safety.

He also commended the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of LSSTF, Dr Ayodele Ogunsan, for sustained interventions, noting that they reflect a strong and productive partnership between the two agencies.

Addressing officers of the corps, the General Manager stressed the importance of accountability and professionalism in handling the equipment. He urged personnel to ensure proper maintenance and responsible deployment, noting that the resources represent a collective investment in the safety of Lagos residents.

“These resources have been made available through deliberate sacrifices and prioritisation. They must be valued, maintained, and deployed effectively in the service of our communities,” he said.
