The Adamawa State Executive Council, under the leadership of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has approved over N30 billion for a broad range of developmental projects aimed at transforming critical sectors across the state.
The approvals were granted during the Council’s 15th meeting, held yesterday at the Government House in Yola.
Speaking to journalists after the session, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, James Iliya, said the investments cut across infrastructure, education, road construction, broadcasting, recreation, and human capital development.
A major portion of the funds, N21.8 billion, was earmarked for additional works on the Adamawa Super Highway. The road project will stretch from Welcome to Yola through Rumde Kila to AA Lawal Junction, serving as a key infrastructure artery for the state.
Another N2.4 billion was allocated for the construction of internal roads within the Army Barracks, while N1.6 billion was approved for the rehabilitation of the NYSC Orientation Camp Gate–Borong Road, spanning the Girei and Demsa local government areas.
The education sector also saw substantial investment, with N4.5 billion dedicated to sponsoring 100 postgraduate students on overseas scholarships. An additional N395 million was approved for the procurement of science textbooks for junior and senior secondary schools across the state.
In the broadcasting sector, the Council, according to the commissioner, approved N184.2 million for the rehabilitation of studio facilities and the installation of new FM and AM transmitters at the Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) in Yola. The upgrade will also cover the Mambamba booster station.
The state also plans to enhance recreational infrastructure, with approval given for the construction of a modern amusement park in Yola North—part of a broader effort to promote tourism and leisure within the region.
Commissioner Iliya stressed that the Fintiri administration remains committed to balanced and inclusive development, placing priority on infrastructure, education, and youth empowerment.
On his part, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Garba Umar Pella, said the investment in science textbooks is part of a broader strategy to revitalise reading culture and align Adamawa’s educational standards with global benchmarks.
Commenting on the infrastructure drive, Commissioner for Works and Energy Development, Adamu Atiku Abubakar, noted that the approved road projects are central to fulfilling Governor Fintiri’s campaign promises.
