The Ondo State Police Command has arrested seven individuals in connection with the theft of goods worth ₦20.45 million from a commercial shop in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area (LGA).
The Guardian reports that no fewer than three of those detained were employees of the shop, while the remaining four were alleged to be receivers of the stolen items.
The suspects include Oyineke Joseph, a storekeeper; Abioye Yusuf, a computer operator; Abdullahi Quadir; and the alleged receivers, Micheal Njoku, Agu Monday, and Ikuemehin Oloruntimilehin. A driver, who has been identified as Ojewuyi, was also implicated in the operation.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abayomi Jimoh, said the case was reported on January 3, 2026, by the shop owner, Ogunyomi Segun, who informed police that some employees had been stealing goods from the store intermittently between 2024 and January 3, 2026. The stolen items included assorted soft drinks, Trophy cans, and other canned beverages.
“In a decisive crackdown on economic and financial crimes, the Ondo State Police Command has arrested seven suspects in connection with a conspiracy and stealing case involving goods valued at ₦20.45 million,” Jimoh said.
He added that the suspects had confessed to the crime during investigations, detailing their respective roles.
“They will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigation,” he said.
Jimoh urged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities, emphasising that the police are committed to ensuring offenders face the full weight of the law.
