The Committee on Recovery of Cows and Sheep in Taraba State has recovered 222 cows that were previously rustled from the state.
Announcing the recovery, the chairman of the committee, Dr. Aminu Hassan Jauro, attributed the success to security intelligence and the collective efforts of security operatives, local hunters, and the council chairmen of Jalingo, Ardo-Kola, and Gassol.
Jauro revealed that several suspected rustlers were also arrested during the operation.
Out of the 222 recovered cows, 198 have already been returned to their rightful owners, while the remaining ones are being kept until ownership is verified.
He commended Governor Agbu Kefas for providing the necessary support to the committee, which enabled them to carry out their mandate effectively.
Jauro also urged residents to continue providing security agencies with credible information to aid in combating criminal activities.
Expressing appreciation for the successful recovery, the state chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Yau Ibrahim Barewa, thanked Governor Kefas for his commitment to tackling cattle rustling.
He called on members of the association and the public to cooperate with the government and security agencies to rid the state of criminal elements.
