No fewer than 13 persons including children have sustained varying degrees of injuries in an auto crash that occurred at Odogbolu junction, Ijebu-Ode road, Ogun State.
Involved in the crash are: a Blue Colour Toyota Varso with the registration number: FKJ 492 HT; and an Ash Colour Mercedes Benz with the registration number: KJA 14 KK.
Spokesperson of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) Babatunde Akinbiyi confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta, yesterday.
Akinbiyi said that 18 persons(10 male, five female and three children) were involved in the accident where 13 passengers sustained injuries with no record of death.
He said that operatives of TRACE, Amotekun security network and the Nigerian Police were on ground for rescue mission.
The TRACE Information Officer said that the cause of the crash was due to excessive speed on the part of the driver of the Mercedes Benz, who lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the Toyota car.
He said “according to eye witnesses, both vehicle involved had a head on collision.and it was as a result of excessive speed on the side of the Ash Mercedes Benz driver (inbound Sagamu) which led to loss of control and ram into the Blue Toyota Varso car inbound Odogbolu junction.”
Akinbiyi noted that the injured victims had been taken to IDERA hospital Odogbolu and BABCOCK University hospital for medical treatment by Amotekun corps.
He added that the traffic which was earlier affected when the rescue mission was on had returned back to normalcy.
