A Jos Magistrate’ Court on Wednesday sentenced a 24 -year-old trader, Godwin Uchendu to two years imprisonment for stealing a drum of palm oil worth N450,000 from a market.
The Magistrate, Shawomi Bokkos, summarily tried and sentenced the convict who pleaded guilty to the charge.
Bokkos in her judgment gave the convict an option of fine of N150, 000.
Earlier, the Prosecutio Counsel, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat told the court that the case was reported at the “B” Division Police Station on April 13, by one Ibeh Godwin, the complainant.
Gokwat said that the drum of palm oil worth N450,000 was recovered during Police investigation.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the Plateau Penal Code Law.
