The Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, has arraigned two commercial motorcyclists before an Akure Magistrates’ Court for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl.
The defendants, identified as Tope Ademeso and IgbekeleAkinsioye, were charged with conspiracy and rape. Prosecuting counsel, O.F. Akeredolu, told the court that the incident occurred on August 6, 2025, at about 10:00 p.m. at the defendants’ residence on Continental Street, Akure. He alleged that the two men conspired to have unlawful sexual intercourse with the teenager.
The charge sheet stated that the offences contravened Section 516 of the Criminal Code Law of Ondo State, 2006, and Sections 3 (1) and 3 (2)(c) of the Ondo State Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law, 2021.
Akeredolu requested the court to remand the defendants in a correctional facility pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
However, defence counsel, Godwin Bernard, argued that the case stemmed from a payment dispute after consensual intercourse, insisting that the defendants did not commit the alleged crime.
He urged the court to grant bail under lenient conditions.
Magistrate DamilolaSekoni adjourned the case to September 1 for ruling on the bail application and ordered that the defendants be remanded at Olokuta Correctional Facility.
