Two police officers have been detained and two others queried by the Delta State Police Command after they were filmed sorting what appeared to be money collected on the road.

The video of the officers, attached to the Asaba Division in Delta State, went viral and sparked widespread reactions.

Spokesperson for the Command, Bright Edafe, promised that the matter would be investigated and those involved punished. Hours later, he posted another video showing the officers standing before the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda.

Edafe said: “The police officers in the embarrassing video have been identified and arrested. They appeared before the CP yesterday, the four personnel, two of them who are senior officers have been queried while the two inspectors have been detained and awaiting an orderly room trial.”

The Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property in the state. He urged residents to promptly report suspicious persons or activities, stressing that early reporting is key to preventing crime.
