Kano Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has received an additional 150 state-sponsored foreign students after completing their second degrees in India.
The students were part of 420 who secured the state scholarship on merit last year and subsequently earned their master’s degrees in six Indian Universities.
Hosting the beneficiaries to a warm reception at the Government House, Yusuf applauded the students for successfully completing their academic pursuits.
Yusuf revealed automatic job opportunities for the scholars who read medicines and engineering courses while pledging an enabling environment for others who majored in other fields.
He expressed satisfaction over the academic success recorded by the foreign-trained and vowed to sustain the initiative despite criticism from opposition parties.
Yusuf reminded the students to remain worthy ambassadors of their community and should not hesitate to give back and contribute to the development of their state.
He commended the foresight of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso for initiating the foreign scholarship that produced academics who are presently serving as commissioners and heads of government agencies.
In her words of appreciation, Zainab Abdulsalam, the mother of one of the beneficiaries lauded the government’s investment in their children. She said the gesture would forever remain indelible in the history of the beneficiaries.
