Gunmen kidnap travellers in Osun

Some passengers, including the driver of a commercial 18- seater bus, have been reportedly abducted along Otan-Imesi Ile Road, Osun state.

The Guardian learnt that the incident happened on Sunday around 5pm at Ajeoku Junction on Otan-Imesi Ile expressway.



The occupants of the commercial bus were said to be travelling from Osogbo to Abuja before they were waylaid at Ajeoku junction, a village off the expressway.

Accomplices of the kidnappers, who pretended as passengers had reportedly boarded the bus from Osogbo and were said to have provided information to the abductors before they abruptly forced the driver to stop at gunpoint.

It was learnt that the kidnappers later ordered the passengers to disembark before they were whisked away to an unknown destination.

The driver reportedly made an attempt to escape but was hindered by the failed portion of the road.

Osun State Coordinator of Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Chief Aladesawe Adedeji confirmed the the incident, saying his men, vigilante group and law enforcement agents were combing the forest to rescue the victims.

Osun State Police Command Spokesperson, Folasade Odoro also confirmed the effort by the combined team of security men to rescue the victims.
