Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has dissolved boards, commissions and parastatals across the state and terminated the appointments of political appointees as his first term draws to a close.
The affected appointees include Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants and Technical Assistants.
The decision, announced in a statement on Sunday by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, takes effect immediately and comes ahead of the inauguration of Oyebanji’s second term on October 16, 2026.

However, the dissolution does not affect chairmen and members of statutory commissions, including the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC), Civil Service Commission, House of Assembly Service Commission and Judicial Service Commission.
The governing councils of all state-owned tertiary institutions will also remain in place, in line with the Governor’s earlier directive.

The chairmen of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Local Government Service Commission and Teaching Service Commission will equally remain in office, although the boards they head have been dissolved.
Directors-General and Technical Advisers to the Governor are also exempt from the termination of appointments.

Oyebanji expressed appreciation to the affected appointees for their contributions to his administration and service to the state.
He wished them continued success in their future endeavours.
