‘Nigerians will soon enrol for NHIS with phones’
As part of efforts to ensure Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by 2030, the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) has concluded plans for Nigerians to be able to enrol for health insurance using electronic devices like phones and computers.
Executive Secretary, NHIS, Prof. Mohammed Sambo, during the NHIS–Health Maintenance Organisations (HMOs) Standing Committee meeting in Abuja, noted that the NHIS electronic platform would revolutionalise health insurance in the country.
Sambo stated that the e-NHIS platform will enable registration, enrollment and change of facilities, among other business processes, on electronic devices, adding that the actions would be viewed in real time on the scheme’s tracking monitor.
Explaining further, Sambo said that HMOs’ activities under the scheme would be tracked on the instant, including claims, which will also be managed electronically.
