The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) is opening more enrolment centres in India to capture Nigerians in Diaspora in the National Identity Database (NIDB).

The launch, which is being done in collaboration with NIMC’s licensed partner, UGS Technologies Limited, is to facilitate services in Chennai and New Delhi.

The Director General/CEO of NIMC, Aliyu Aziz, said the move was to ensure that Nigerians abroad were captured in the database and issued the National Identification Number (NIN) pursuant to the provisions of the NIMC Act (2007).

He said: “The enrolment and the issuance of the NIN to Nigerians outside the country are in fulfilment of the NIMC’s mandate to enrol Nigerians, legal residents and Nigerians in Diaspora into the National Identity Database (NIDB).”
