The Cross River State Command of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has called for synergy with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) to effectively tackle immigration challenges in the state and country at large.

The Comptroller of NIS, Cross River State Command, Chris Baikie, made the plea while receiving newly inaugurated executives of the state NUJ in his office in Calabar.

He said the media must not compromise its agenda-setting role to invoke the consciousness of Nigerians to the fact that security is everyone’s responsibility.

While congratulating the new leadership, Baikie stated: “Immigration duties require the full cooperation of the media. We need you to assist us in the effective propagation of issues, especially on migration and immigration policies.”

On the recent spate of insecurity in the state, the comptroller said: “The media has to set agenda for both government and governed to get things right in the country.”
