NOSDRA laments inability to effectively check oil theft
The National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA) has said it lacked the equipment to effectively contain oil theft and pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta.
Its Director General, Idris Musa, told reporters yesterday in Abuja that the Federal Government was losing much to the economic sabotage “because we are incapacitated in operations.”
He said at least five oil spills occur daily in the region, which, which it had sanctioned major oil firms for.
The DG expressed dismay that most of these erring companies are 100 per cent owned by either government or known individuals.
