Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC)

The Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Dr. Kayode Opeifa, has reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to continuous training and retraining of its workforce as part of efforts to improve operational efficiency and align with global standards.

Opeifa made the remarks during an interaction with NRC delegates attending the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) Week and Annual General Meeting in Kaduna.

He said sustained investment in human capital development would enhance workers’ professional competence and position the corporation for improved service delivery.

According to him, the conference provides an opportunity for staff to acquire new skills and knowledge relevant to their duties, while also exposing them to industry best practices.

Earlier, the NRC’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Callistus Unyimadu, commended the corporation’s management for supporting the public relations department, noting that participation in the yearly gathering enables staff to engage with professionals across government agencies and private institutions.

He added that such interactions would ultimately translate into more efficient service delivery.

Also speaking, the Managing Director’s Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Yinka Aderibigbe, described the 2026 edition of the NIPR Week as highly impactful, citing the quality of discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions. He credited the NRC leadership for prioritising human resource development across the organisation.

The NIPR Annual General Meeting, which attracted over 2,000 delegates, was declared open by Vice President Kashim Shettima, alongside several senior government officials.

In his welcome address, NIPR President Ike Neliaku said the institute remains committed to promoting Nigeria’s positive narratives, despite prevailing challenges.

The Chairman of the organising committee, Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, said the conference offered participants first-hand insights into developments in Kaduna State, including improvements in infrastructure and security.
