The National Universities Commission (NUC), yesterday, presented letter of recognition to Osun State government for the official take-off of newly-approved University of Ilesa.

Executive Secretary of NUC, Prof. Abubakar Adamu Rasheed, made the presentation to Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola.

Oyetola, while receiving the letter at the NUC Secretariat in Abuja, said the event had further laid credence to his commitment of upgrading the 44-year-old college of education to a university.

He said the establishment of the university would go a long way to address palpable deficit in university education, particularly in the state and beyond.

According to him, the university will further help to train and equip a diverse group of youths with professional skills, entrepreneurial ability, as well as innovative insights, especially in agri-business, mining and health.
