Oborevwori to tackle youth unemployment, economic hardship

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to tackling youth unemployment and economic hardship through sustained infrastructure development and strategic partnerships to create jobs and improve livelihoods across the state.

The governor made the remarks yesterday while addressing construction workers at the Julius Berger project site in Osubi, Okpe Local Council Area of Delta State, where he stressed the need for deliberate government interventions to address rising unemployment and economic challenges confronting many families.

According to Oborevwori, the realities of economic hardship and limited opportunities have left many young people frustrated, making it imperative for the government to intensify efforts to create jobs and empower young people.

“There are many challenges facing our people today, especially unemployment and economic hardship. Too many of our young people are giving up because opportunities are limited.

That is why we must continue to create jobs, empower our youths, and ensure that development reaches every community,” the governor stated.

He reiterated that his administration would continue to expand employment opportunities through heavy investment in infrastructure and collaborations with reputable construction firms, particularly Julius Berger Nigeria Plc.

Oborevwori disclosed that the state government plans to award more construction projects to Julius Berger as part of broader efforts to accelerate infrastructure development while simultaneously creating jobs for residents.

The governor commended workers and contractors handling various projects across Delta State for their dedication and contributions to development, noting that genuine commitment to progress deserves encouragement and support from all stakeholders.

He further revealed that his administration would continue to partner with Julius Berger in executing critical infrastructure projects in Warri, Effurun, and other parts of the state to boost economic growth and employment opportunities.
