The Ogun State chapters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and major opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have traded words over a recent alarm raised by Ladi Adebutu of the PDP that some forces allegedly working for Governor Dapo Abiodun and APC were after his life.

The State Publicity Secretary of APC, Tunde Oladunjoye, described Adebutu as one being pursued by creditors, his ego and failed ambition.

He said: “We do not want to believe that someone who had dreamt of being the governor of a state is oblivious of the fact that it is a normal practice to downsize security details after elections, except you are a President, Vice President, Governor and others.

“Perhaps, he wants to continue to hold on to security operatives paid by taxpayers’ money and continue to commit illegalities as he did on the day of the last governorship election when he was moving from Ogun East Senatorial District to others in breach of the electoral laws and guidelines.”

IN a response, Adebutu’s media aide, Afolabi Orekoya, said APC and its Publicity Secretary goofed.

According to him, “Oladunjoye’s response is a clear admittance that the government is truly behind the withdrawal of Adebutu’s security personnel to perpetuate their evil plans.”

He said Adebutu had been using security personnel for over a decade ever before his decision to contest, so, why is the ruling party crying now?

Orekoya also urged APC to explain why some individuals, who were not elected as governors or otherwise move around with heavy security.
