Ogun electoral body adopts list by PDP faction
The Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission, (OGSIEC), yesterday, adopted a list forwarded to it by a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to the Ahmed Makarfi caretaker committee.
For the October 8 local government chairmanship and councillorship election, the Commission said it had dropped the list sent to it by the Bayo Dayo faction loyal to Ali-Modu Sheriff.
Speaking at a press conference, the chairman of the Commission’s screening committee, Mutiu Agboke, said the decision was hinged on an injunction from an Abeokuta High Court delivered by Justice Mobolaji Ojo on May 26.
He said the court specifically addressed the issue of giving recognition to Ogundele’s faction as against conflicting judgements of Federal High Courts of Abuja, Lagos and Port Harcourt on the leadership crisis.
